Basically, the best thing ever has just happened:

My friends, the illustrious Annalisa Ambrosio and Eric Agustin are ENGAGED!!! It's the cutest, most wonderful, most joyous occasion... and damn, the afterparty's gonna be KILLAH! ;)

I love you guys, always have, always will... I wish you the best of luck (LIKE you'll need it)... you deserve this happiness more than anyone I know.

Okay, my friends Mikki and Ivan have the slowest computer in the world. I love you two, but it's true. I've been relegated once again to paying for internet access (checking my e-mail from my phone doesn't do it for me)...

So people, LA isn't that bad. True, I just about hate the nightlife (I'm sorry, I'm judgmental), but the driving in rush hour isn't as horrifying as I thought, and now that the sun's out, I've been forgetting all those little shitty things that I swore I would dwell on incessantly until I came back to NYC. Hmmm... esta bien. Also, my job is... well, it's so NOT a job. First of all, I'm not getting paid (such is life when it comes to judicial work after only 1 year of law school). Second of all, the judge I work for is VERY aware of the fact that I'm not getting paid, so he really tries to make it time well spent... I'm getting involved in the interesting parts of trial and court work, none of the crappy parts. So that's good. One bad thing, though... I work in family court, so I see a lot of domestic violence/child custody/divorce cases... Now I'm just jaded when it comes to marriage. I also am thinking about all those people from high school I know who got married without thinking about it first, and how so many of them are going through divorces, and how it's so much more complicated than "hmmm, whoops, I don't think I love you anymore, peace." People need to be sure before they dive into things... they need to be like... I dunno... ERIC AND ANNA.

Just got the Ambrosio-Agustin wedding invite... RSVP-ed immediately to Kimmie. We love it. I can't wait for it, it's gonna be the event of the season. Lots of pictures. Lots of DDT. And I was uber-smart and booked time with the two kiddies during Labor Day weekend... lord knows NO ONE is really gonna be able to chill with them... but there's sure to be lots of waving from a far (I'm VERY GOOD at the from-afar-waving... it's a skill I've developed from going to far too many weddings where the only people I know are the bride and/or groom and I don't want to look like a friendless idiot at the reception so I look up, laugh and nod and wave like I see someone I know, and then walk briskly over to the bar where there's a drink waiting for me. It's a technique. Or a defense mechanism created from a subtle insecurity. One of the two. But there will be no defense mechanism at the AA wedding... Leslie's my date, so I can wave and walk over to her as opposed to the bar.

One thing I've continued doing this summer... reading. I'm a nerd and I love it. And not just Harry Potter 5 (and yes I've read it and yes I love it... I skipped out on last weekend's trip to San Diego because I was so engrossed by it's 880-ish pages)... for those of you who have got those book clubs, try The Da Vinci Code, Digital Fortress, Angels and Demons (all by Dan Brown), Gravity's Rainbow (Thomas Pynchon), and A Short History of Nearly Everything (Bill Bryson)... No, seriously, I mean it. Oh, and then buy Sex and the City, Season 4 on DVD... I've already watched every episode, like, 30 times.

And can we talk about this new season? Aidan has a baby? Miranda has poop on her forehead? Is this okay?

Oh, and another thing... this random chick who let me live with her this summer is dope. She's 31, an attorney at O'Melveny (SOCal's top law firm), super nice, and we're best friends. It's nice. She also asks me daily why in god's name I want to be an attorney. She says I have too much personality to be a lawyer and that I'm going to have to work hard to keep it when I go corporate... I guess that's a compliment? Who knows...

I think I'm done for now. Call me!

So... how does one get food poisoning AGAIN after just getting food poisoning a few months ago? Moreover, who gets food poisoning from TOFU? Oh, it's me, it's me. It sucks, we hate it.

Okay, I'm going to San Diego this weekend... I think. Yes, we'll say I am.

No really, not having internet access constantly is hard to get used to. I go over to a friend's place and they have internet access... I get all sorts of excited. It's not healthy.

What's up, everyone?

It's weird... not having constant internet access... apparently the L.A. Superior Court has something against that. So be it... I'll be stranded at an internet cafe a few times a month...er... week... with nothing but Boba World to tide me over.
