Alright, it's time to be sad.
My roommate for the past 2.5 years, arguably my favorite person in law school, just moved out. He's doing his last semester at a law school in L.A. (but will graduate from Columbia with the rest of us in May). Federico Blanco will be missed. A lot. Boo.
On a brighter note, what should I do with the extra room? Rumor has it that Columbia might not move anyone else into the space...

I hate (HATE HATE HATE) that I'm still so affected by people in my past. I'm not talking about those friends from yesteryear with whom you had a great time, but you've just grown apart... I'm talking about those people that you may have expelled from your life as viciously and immediately as they had entered... You know who I mean, those people that had such a brief role but made such an intense impression that even now, you think of and you smile... or cringe... MUCH more often than not, the latter.
It's the worst.
I know we should all look at these times as learning experiences... take what you can from it and move on. But I can't seem to let go. I think it's more of a function of realizing my own weaknesses and failings... I don't want to be reminded of my imperfections... And it doesn't seem to matter how long ago these moments/hours/weeks/years of stupidity lasted... They're always as vibrant and cutting as they were then.
I also hate when the simplest of conversations remind you of that.
I wish I could just let it go.

Okay, so I just finished my last exam for the semester... Evidence. I didn't think I was prepared at all, but the exam seemed pretty self-explanatory. I mean, sure there were a few curveballs in there, but nothing too vicious. Problem, though... I think I was the first one to finish the exam (it was a 3 hr. exam, I finished it in 2.)... This could mean either a) I had a good grasp on the material and didn't second guess myself, or (and this is the more probable answer) b) I missed something(s) big. Whatev, not gonna worry about it. I'm not a very good law student, anyway... Another bad grade isn't gonna change things.
Now I just have a paper due on Friday. I can handle that.
Don't you hate it when mysterious drops of liquid fall on your head from high? You know, from air conditioners or melting ice or, you know... uh, rain. Whenever this happens, I always freak, thinking that a pigeon shit on me. Gross.

I should be studying. I should be studying a lot.
I mean, I AM studying right now, but I guess I just don't care anymore. I have a job post-graduation, I have fun things to do, I have friends who I love to spend time with MUCH more than I love chillin' in my room with a book telling me all about the three ways in which de minimis can be a concept in copyright law... but alas.
Good news... I passed the MPRE exam! In case you don't know (and if you know what's good for you, you'll forget this information after you're done reading this entry), it's the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam... basically a professional ethics exam you have to pass before you're admitted to the Bar in New York. True, while you never hear about people failing the exam, there's only a 60% passage rate, and I was so worried I failed after a quite intelligent friend of mine didn't end up passing. However, crisis averted! I just hope the actual Bar Exam yields similar results... I mean, not for my friend. I hope she passes.
More good news... I'm choreographing for an off-Broadway production of Rocky Horror. It's bizarre, truly, but it should be a fun experience. The show is slated to open mid-late February, and will be showing Friday (and potentially Saturday) nights at midnight... There goes my social life. Anyway, we're selecting 4 dancers (other than me) from a pre-screened group, if you will, and I think they're all going to do a fine job... At least, that's what we're thinking.
I'm so friggin' excited about my San Diego trip!!! Megan is going, too!!! And some folks who aren't usually there are driving back for New Year's!!! Big day!!!
For those of you in NYC, I plan on having a birthday party (at least, that's what Ali tells me) when I get back... probably around Jan. 6th. Get ready!

"Graduation 2005 will take place over a week long period beginning with events planned by the graduation committee. The Law School Ceremony will be held at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center on Thursday 5/19/05 at 3:00 p.m. The University Commencement will take place on Wednesday 5/18/05 at 10:00 a.m. in regal formation on Campus Walk."
Wow. Reality. In less than 6 months, school will be over... arguably forever. Wow.
