I’ve only just now begun to realize the incredible huge amount of time I’ve spent in auditions… actually auditioning for things, running the auditions, supervising the auditions, everything… I did a count of the auditions in my life since I started college: While this is by no means all-inclusive (I’m sure there are a few I just can’t remember), I came to a count… Since ’97, I’ve auditioned 12 times for things, and I have helped run 19 auditions… and number 20 is coming up in the next few months.
I mean, I know this is a function of being involved in a bunch of performance groups, but who exactly am I that I think I have the authority to judge people on their talent? Sure, I’ve been Dick #1 (proudly, let me say) for GSNY, and have held the time-honored position of the most judgmental in other groups, but still… some of these folks auditioning for these vocal and dance groups are better than I ever hope to be, yet their fate in this organization with which they wish to be a part lies in my hands.
Damn, whose idea WAS that?

Can we please take a minute and talk about Jamie Foxx's acceptance speech for his Golden Globe: Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy? Umm... I sort of got emotional.

I think the entire concept of "I owe you one" is weird.
Let me explain... you know how you sometimes go out with a group of friends (or maybe just one other friend) and you (along with one or more of the people you're with) buy something... for argument's sake, let's just say you buy a round of drinks. Now, what's expected by everyone (but not necessarily you) is that at the end of the day/night, everyone will have bought at least one round, causing everyone to have spent an equivalent amount of money. Now we all know that shit NEVER ends up even, and that's by all means just fine. The problem arises in the following ways... I have no problem buying the first round or whatever, I have no issues at all covering a friend who doesn't have the cash to buy themselves whatever, and I never really ask for anything in return, because I have the belief that things will either a) work out, or b) leave me with a little less money, but my friend a little bit happier. The thing that sucks is that the only time I ever have to borrow money (and I HATE doing that) is ironically when I'm with people I don't chill with very often, thus never have the chance to pay back. For example, the last time I borrowed money from anyone was when I shared a cab back to campus with a dude from my class... and I don't think I've actually seen him since, nor am I actually friends with him.
Moral of the story... this money thing... it never works out. Not like it will bother me when a friend has to borrow money or whatever... I always feel just fine letting someone borrow what they need... but it really bothers me when I have to borrow anything. I feel as though I'm stealing.
This was a boring entry. Sorry.
