I just have a few things to report/confess...

First, the reports:
a) I'm scheduled to pick up the keys for my new apt. on March 20th. I also just hired movers for the 26th.
b) I think I just completed a paper I've spent the past 2 years writing. Now, when I say that I've spent the past 2 years writing it, I mean to say that it was assigned during the fall semester of 2003... How much time I actually spent working on it is up for debate. It might be a decent paper, though. We'll see.

Now, for the confessions... I just watched the entirety of New York Minute... for the second time. I don't know what's worse, that or the fact that I'm about to sit through The Core for, like, the 10th time. I'm serious.

Only in New York...

Only in New York will it be absolutely okay for your cab driver to play the harmonica and sing at the top of his lungs all the way from 14th St to 112th St... and it being nothing if not endearing.

I'm tired.

The Real World, Part I...

Okay, so for the past year, Mandisa and I have been planning on moving in together. We lived together for year when we first moved to NYC, and it was a huge hit... there are very few people, I think, with whom your friendship grows based on your shared ability to co-exist. SO, this past weekend, she and I decided to do a little bit of research. We knew real estate in Manhattan was hard to come by, and we knew there would be a lot of competition for great places as time went on. We also needed a lease that began at least by June 1, we wanted a great location, we wanted space, we wanted everything... Moral of the story, we thought we needed to start early so we could at least get used to the process. With this in mind, we did a few hours of on-line research, looking at potential places, writing e-mails to the listed contact information, etc. The next day, we received a bunch of calls, including one from this guy John, who wanted to meet up with us the following week just to show us a few places... not to get us to rent immediately, but to try to ascertain what exactly it was we wanted.

Fast forward to Tuesday... I ended up viewing a bunch of apartments that day... the last one, however, while a little bit above mine and Mandisa's price range, was perfect. Just perfect. Big enough, on 21st between 7th and 8th, close to about every subway in NYC, close to incredible restauraunts, bars, etc., close to just about everything. Initially, Mandisa wasn't able to see it until Thursday, but, after hearing that apartments in that building were going like crazy, she was able to see it on Wednesday night. It's a good thing she did, too, because she ended up loving it, we ended up putting in an application for it, and, the next morning, we SIGNED A LEASE (just beating out other groups of people who were vying for it)...

Our lease begins March 20th. I need to find a way to get out of my current lease. I need to get used to commuting to school every day for my last month and a half. NO PROBLEM. It's worth it.

I'll let you know when the housewarming is.
