This has not been my week.
I had to get minor surgery after strange lumps appeared on random spots on my body, one of which was on the back of my neck... It got so big that it was really prohibitive of all head movement... I tried calling doctor after doctor, telling them it was an emergency, but they didn't seem to believe me, saying their next available appt was in October or November... Then, when it got to be ridiculous, I tried one last time, found a doctor, made an appt, and 5 hours later, I was armed with a newly prescribed bottle of Vicodin, some antibiotics, and the doctor's note instructing me not to go to work the next day. A few days later, the lumps basically disappeared, except for the one on my neck, which was... umm... cut out and drained... It's all really gross.
It sucks because it's going to take forever to heal. It also sucks because I'm having a mild allergic reaction to the antibiotics, but one that the doctor said I would have and that it'd be fine... I'm getting this body-wide rash... and it's maybe the most annoying thing in the world.
On a brighter note, I really like my job. I'm starting to get more integrated... got myself onto a team, and actually brought some work home with me this weekend. I know that sounds hellish... to actually bring work home... but I feel important in some ridiculous way.
I also think I might've met someone... but that's a story for another day... and I only say that because I'm fairly certain I've spoken too soon, and I don't want to embarrass myself when shit goes awry in a week. Thanks for the patience.

Okay, it's the craziest thing to have a random hook up with someone you've never met before, and then the next morning find out this someone used to date one of your good friends. Random.

Wild.
In a few hours, I'm getting on a flight to D.C. to begin my orientation as a new first year attorney at my firm. After four days of seminars and dinners (etc.), I'll apparently be perfectly acclimated to the lifestyle the firm will present, so that on Monday, when I move into my office in Rockefeller Center NYC, all will be well.
I'm just sad that we're not getting business cards until December. It's smart, though... they just need to make sure we pass the bar before we have anything that says ", Esq., Associate"... and we don't find out until November whether we pass the bar or not.
PLEASE let me pass the bar the first time... PLEASE.
Okay, time to shower.
