I have some thoughts, and all regarding topics that are virtually meaningless. That's why I choose to write them down in this venue, such that people can read them by choice and at their leisure, as opposed to telling someone face to face, when there could be a risk of awkwardness and a "why would you think I care" sort of look.Sex in the City should never have been syndicated on TBS. Non-premium cable edits make it painfully uninteresting.Sitcoms should never plan to have live filmings. It's not as entertaining as you think to see actors laughing at the themselves, especially when the line isn't funny. This doesn't apply to you, Jimmy Fallon. How were Miley Cyrus and the girl who plays Jenny Humphrey on Gossip Girl directly competing for the same role in Hannah Montana? Why are most television shows and movies geared towards those who hopelessly have feelings for unattainable people? It's a weird consumer group on which to focus. Why aren't there more interesting cases for the iPhone 3G?Why am I only just now realizing how insulting Will and Grace is to gay men? Why, after months and months of impossibly clear skin, is there a zit popping out from behind my goatee? Why do I have a box that I still haven't unpacked from my move 3 years ago sitting in a corner of my apartment? Why did the two things that played DVDs in my apt (DVD player, XBox) stop letting me play DVDs at the same time? Why is SciFi now SyFy?For the first time in my life, I'm wondering why I want a ficus in my apartment.Do you, or do you not, pronounce the s in "Nicoise"?I temporarily think that Dakota Fanning might have a chance of being un-ugly when she grows up. Good for you, D-Fan.

IT'S A BRAND NEW DAY!!!
Everyone, I love that you're reading my blog right now. Totally makes me feel special, and you know how I love feeling special.
That being said, Mandisa and I have started a new little blog project. Just take my word for it, it's a good time, and we would both really love if you would check it out... maybe more than only once... maybe something like once a day. Okay, okay... how about may 3 or 4 times a week? I mean, we can be reasonable... anyway
A QUESTION OF TASTE
... that's all I'm saying. The title is self-explanatory.
(Oh, if you don't think that the title is self-explanatory, that's cool, it might only be obvious to Mandisa and I because we came up with the title, so we know exactly to what we're referring... In that case, feel free to either e-mail me, or add a comment on this post, or even e-mail both Disa and I at aquestionoftaste@gmail.com...)

AMIT: THE QUESTIONNAIRE.
1. How old will you be in 3 years?
31
2. Do you think you'll be married by then?
That's fun to think about, but only in terms of who I'll actually be friends with when I get married... you know, lists and whatnot. Anyway, I have no idea, but going with my recent luck, then hell no.
3. What do you look forward to most in the next 2 months?
Labor Day weekend in Ojai, CA. Maybe I'll stay.
4. Who was the last person you talked to?
Sharon, Karina and Leslie... yes, at the same time.
5. what do you think about the person that took this survey before you?
Lilly is a sexy bitch with the most perfect eyebrows ever.
6. Who was the last person to text you?
This guy who is close with this girl who my friend once made friends with in a bathroom. Their names, respectively, are Matt, Rose and Mona.
7. Who was the last person you hugged?
Sharon, I think. It was 4:30am, so my memory may not be so accurate
8. What were you doing at midnight last night?
Watching TV and e-mailing folks
9. Parents separated/divorced/married?
Married.
10. Last time you saw your dad?
May 5. He was in NYC for a conference.
11. What happened at 11:00 a.m. today?
I was typing on my computer with fierce conviction.
12. How many states do you want to visit?
I think I've already been to all except Alaska and Hawai'i. So I'll say Alaska, Hawai'i... and, let's just add California and Colorada, for good measure.
14. Do you prefer shoes, socks, or bare feet?
bare feet, but that is, of course, on a per-case basis.
15. Are you a social person?
Yeah
17. Favorite ice cream?
Gold Medal Ribbon from Baskin Robbins.
18. What is your favorite dessert?
The Olive Oil Coppetta from Otto Enoteca & Pizzeria
19. Whats your favorite song right now?
A tie between "Cherchez LaGhost," the Gotan Project Remix of "Whatever Lola Wants," the acoustic version of "Belief," and maybe some others. I can never commit to that sort of thing. Favorite movie, however... that's another story.
20. What kind of jelly do you like on your peanut butter sandwich?
I don't do peanut butter. Next question.
21. Do you like coffee?
I do, but I apparently don't like making it myself.
22. How many glasses of water a day do you drink on average?
Not enough
23. What do you drink in the morning?
Tropicana juice. Maybe Orange enriched with Vitamins A and C, some pulp. Maybe Ruby Red Grapefruit. Depends on my mood.
24. Would you rather kiss someone with or without a lip ring?
Without. Lip Ring, braces, whatever... it still equates to "metal mouth."
25. Do you sleep on a certain side of the bed?
Yes.
26. Do you know how to play poker?
Yes.
28. Any plans for this week?
Work. Eat. Dinner with old law school colleague on Wednesday, followed by going away drinks with a certain Broadway actress. Thursday, a friend is coming to stay with me for the weekend, and on Saturday, Mandisa and I will be working on all things tasteful, and then will attend an engagement party for Shally and Sid. Hot.
29. Do you eat out or at home more often?
I'm with Lilly on this one. I order in like it's my job. But I do eat in my home.
34. Have you ever been in an ambulance?
Yes, but only during this thing called "Mock Crash" in high school. Did anyone else experience this? I was chosen (Yes, it was a HUGE honor) as one of the actors to be involved in this staged car crash that happened outside of my high school every 3 years. It was supposed to be a lesson against drunk driving or something. So yeah, during a fire drill, when everyone was outside, a car careens around the corner and smashes into a truck or something, there's fake blood and fake crying and fake screaming. I remember being helped into an ambulance (I was injured, but not badly, but was accompanying my broken "friend" in the ambulance), and then being driven away. It was very dramatic, and I believe I really helped people that day. You feel a little helped, don't you?
35. Do you prefer an ocean or a pool?
I prefer to actually be IN a pool, but to be BESIDE an ocean.
36. Do you prefer a window seat or an aisle seat?
Aisle.
37. Do you know how to drive a stick shift?
Oh please. (that means no.)
38. What is your favorite thing to spend money on?
Books, DVDs, fun.
39. Do you wear any jewelry 24/7?.
If my watch counts, then... well... no.
40. Do you speak any other language?
I can count to 10 in English, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Taiwanese, Hindi, and Latin. I can get by in my house with Hindi, but not in the real world. I can nod in a very French way.
41. Can you roll your tongue?
mmhmm
42. Who is the funniest person you know?
Lilly's pretty funny. So is Kevin, my best childhood friend. I'm bad at superlatives, I thought we discussed this...
43. Do you sleep with stuffed animals?
This question makes me feel awkward, both about the author of this survey, and also the intended age of the survey participant.
44. Are you in a relationship?
No.
45. Do you still have clothes from when you were little?
I miss my Space Camp shirt. It was campy. Lit'rally.
46. What is the color of your bedroom wall?
eggshell.
47. Do you shut off the water when you brush your teeth?
no.
48. Are you crushing on someone right now?
Nope.
49. Do you have any tattoos, or piercings?
Not now, but maybe not necessarily never...

So I know this is lame, but I've already read the new Harry Potter book.
A friend sent it to me in pdf form, and while some say it's difficult to read, I found it nearly the same as reading straight from the book.
It's the best Harry Potter book yet. Maybe everyone else will agree once it comes out on Saturday.
I might talk more about it later.

Upheaval.
I've said it once, but I apparently wasn't listening to myself then.
So much has happened... new job, virtually a new life... attempting, perhaps in vain, to change my perceptions. I used to think I was good at this sort of thing. You know, uprooting my life, spinning around and jumping, and feeling just fine wherever I land. Okay, so my journeys aren't as random as that, but even calculated moves can be good for the soul every now and then. And right now, RIGHT NOW, I feel as though it's time.
New York has been wonderful. But it has made me lazy. Or rather, New York has given me the opportunity to be lazy, and I've jumped on board. I've stopped blogging, and while that's not necessarily symptomatic of horrible things, the reason I've stopped blogging is because I not only have much to say, what I DO have to say is not stuff I actually want to read and write about. I haven't been motivated by the ideas behind my work for a very long time, and I can't see myself staying in this city and making a deliberate change. So, working with this life's-fortune-directly-correlative-to-body's-location theory, it's time to get out. I'm thinking San Francisco. I see people I admire there, comparatively leading healthy lives, following a broader lifestyle than work hard-play hard-eat-sleep. It can be refreshingly rigorous, but in incredibly more healthy ways.
I should try to be healthier.
Maybe I should just put all of my possessions in storage and go on a month-long hike. Any takers?
